2022 Toyota Prius

The 2022 Prius comes in five basic trims, the L Eco, LE, XLE, the brand new Nightshade Edition, and the top-tier Limited. In addition, the Prius is offered in an AWD-e version available on the LE, XLE, and Nightshade Edition. The design team at Toyota has transformed the exterior appearance of the 2022 Prius with modern styling. From the front, this hatchback has angular-shaped LED headlights centered with the iconic Toyota badging. A unique dropped fascia adds a futuristic look to the Prius. Drivers can choose from colors such as Electric Storm Blue, Supersonic Red, or Sea Glass Pearl.

Under the hood of this hybrid hatchback is a naturally aspired 1.8-liter inline four-cylinder engine. A single electric motor pairs with the engine in the front-wheel drive version and two electric motors pair with the AWD-e variations of the Prius. For power storage, the Prius has either a lithium-ion or sealed nickel-metal hydride battery with an output of 53kW. Together, the powertrain creates 121 horsepower. A continuously variable transmission completes the powertrain.

Front-wheel drive comes standard on all but the AWD-e trims. For the latter trims, they come with an electronic on-demand compact all-wheel-drive system. Drivers will notice how well the 2022 Toyota Prius handles with its front MacPherson struts, multilink rear suspension system, and front and rear stabilizer bars.

With two rows of seats, the Prius can hold up to five people with plenty of front and rear legroom for everyone, 42.3 inches in the front and 33.4 inches for those sitting in the back. All trims have comfortable seats and as you move up the tiers, you'll find power-adjustable heated front seats, SofTex seating surfaces, a heated steering wheel, and SofTex-trimmed door panels. Depending on the seating configuration, the Toyota Prius has up to 27.4 cubic feet of storage space.

Except for the Limited trim, the Prius comes with an infotainment system featuring a 7-inch touch screen. The system supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa integration. The Limited trim has an 11.6-inch touch screen that is available for the lower models. However, this touch screen loses Android Auto compatibility. Additional standard features include Bluetooth, a Wi-Fi hot spot, three USB ports, and a six-speaker sound system. You can also choose available features such as a 10-speaker JBL stereo, a wireless charging pad, navigation, and a moonroof.

The 2022 Prius comes equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.0 bundle of driver-assist technology. Key features include a pre-collision system with pedestrian detection and automatic emergency braking, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, and automatic high-beam headlights. In addition, the Prius comes with a lane departure alert with steering assist, road sign assist, and intelligent parking assist. Select trims have the option to had a color head-up display.
