2023 Toyota Corolla Cross

The gas-powered Corolla Cross models come in three trim levels. The base L has 17-inch wheels, LED headlights, and heated side exterior mirrors. Stepping up to the LE adds 17-inch alloy wheels, dark-tinted privacy glass, roof rails, heated and power-adjustable side exterior mirrors, and automatic on-off LED headlights. This trim also has rear privacy glass and proximity keyless entry. The top-level XLE adds to these features with 18-inch alloy wheels, LED taillights, and LED fog lights.

Power for the Corolla Cross comes from a 2.0-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque. It works with a continuously variable automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. An all-wheel-drive system is an option for any of the trim levels. The gas engine will propel the Corolla Cross up to 60 mph in just over nine seconds.

The ride in the Corolla Cross is smooth and quiet. Toyota tuned the suspension for comfort, and since it rides higher than the Corolla sedan, the driver gets a better view of the road and their surroundings. When equipped with the all-wheel-drive system, it has a multilink rear suspension that smooths out the ride even more. The engine has an off-on feature that turns it off when stopped at a red light and starts up again when you take your foot off the brake to help save fuel.

There's room for up to five people in the Corolla Cross. Cloth upholstery comes standard, and the L also has a height-adjustable driver's seat and a 60/40-split folding rear seat. The LE adds to this with a leather-wrapped steering wheel and automatic climate control, while stepping up to the XLE adds ambient interior lighting, synthetic leather upholstery, heated front seats, and a folding armrest in the rear seat.

Technology in the Corolla Cross starts with an 8-inch touchscreen, a Wi-Fi hotspot, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and two USB-C ports. You'll get wireless charging in the LE and a 7-inch digital instrument panel in the XLE.

Every 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross has the Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 suite. This bundle of safety systems includes forward collision warning, automatic braking, pedestrian detection, and automatic high-beam headlights. It also comes with lane-departure warning with a steering assist system that will help keep the Cross in its lane, road-sign assist, and lane-tracing assist. The road edge detection system will alert the driver if the Corolla Cross begins to leave the road, and there's also an intersection assist feature that will warn the driver if there is approaching traffic when they make a left turn.
