2023 Toyota RAV4

The 2023 Toyota RAV4 has an aggressive stance, with wide headlights and a more streamlined shape than most SUVs. A wide range of colors, primarily in natural tones, enhances its rugged appearance and allows it to blend into the mountains.

The RAV4 has no fewer than 13 trim models to choose from. For gas options, drivers can choose the LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, TRD Off-Road, and Limited. Hybrid options include the Hybrid LE, Hybrid XLE, Hybrid Woodland Edition, Hybrid XLE Premium, Hybrid SE, Hybrid XSE, and Hybrid Limited. The LE starts out with 17-inch steel wheels, LED running lights, privacy glass, and aerodynamic underbody panels. Other options include 18- or 19-inch wheels, a power liftgate, a two-tone color scheme, a panoramic glass roof with a tilt/slide moonroof, and black roof rails.

Gas models use a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine with 203 horsepower and 184 lb-ft of torque. Hybrid models feature a 2.5-liter engine with a net output of 219 horsepower thanks to the combined internal combustion engine and electric motor.

Base models have front-wheel drive as standard with all-wheel drive available. The continuously variable automatic transmission is included on the higher-level trims. Sport, Eco, or Normal modes allow you to control your driving style and adjust for various driving conditions. Some models also offer Mud and Sand, Rock and Dirt, and Snow modes for additional off-road control. The TRD Off-Road is specialized for trail adventures with a slightly higher clearance at 8.6 inches, skid plates, and a specialized suspension. A tow package is optional.

The RAV4 interior has seats in comfortable soft gray with power adjustment for the driver and front passenger seats. A seven-inch multi-instrument display provides driving information, and an eight-inch screen supports Toyota Audio Multimedia, compatible with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. For superior sound, drivers can upgrade to an 11-inch screen with JBL premium audio, including a subwoofer and amplifier.

Seating upgrades include heated and ventilated front seats, SofTex synthetic leather-trimmed seats with color accents and stitching, and embossed seat inserts, as well as an 8-way power adjustable front driver's seat with lumbar support, and a 4-way adjustable front passenger seat. Additional options include blue ambient illumination, a heated leather-trimmed steering wheel, a 12-volt outlet, a cargo cover, and a digital instrument panel with a 12.3-inch display.

This year's RAV4 comes with Toyota's latest safety features, most notably the Toyota Safety Sense system. This set of functions includes lane departure alerts, lane trace assistance, proactive driving assistance, road sign assistance, full-speed range dynamic radar cruise control, pedestrian detection, and automatic high beams. The separate Star system also boosts safety through its four-wheel antilock brake system, brake assist, electronic brake-force distribution, Smart Stop Technology, hill start assist, and enhanced vehicle stability and traction control.

Optional upgrades include adaptive headlights, rear cross-traffic alert, and a blind-spot monitor. With great off-road abilities, cargo space, and passenger comfort, the RAV4 is ideal for a rugged adventure.
