2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid

Apart from the plug-in hybrid, the RAV4 Prime, the 2023 RAV4 Hybrid has seven trims. It starts with the base LE trim with 17-inch alloy wheels and automatic LED headlights. The XLE follows, featuring passive keyless entry, LED projector headlamps with automatic high beams, heated exterior mirrors, and front fog lamps. Next in the lineup is the SE, driving on 18-inch black alloy wheels and using bi-LED headlights with LED accent lights.

Created more for off-road adventures, the Woodland Edition boasts an RD off-road suspension, Falken Wildpeak all-terrain tires, bronze 18-inch alloy wheels, and black badging and roof rack cross bars.

The XLE Premium sports a power tilt and slide moonroof, an adjustable power liftgate, and 18-inch super-chrome sport alloy wheels, while the XSE looks great with its two-tone exterior colors. Finally, the Limited wears a gray metallic front grille with hexagon patterns and has 18-inch metallic-finish alloy wheels.

Powered by a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that's aided by two electric motors, the RAV4 Hybrid has a combined output of 219 horsepower. The engine mates with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT) and pushes out 163 pound-feet of torque. The SUV comes standard with all-wheel drive, in which one of the electric motors pushes power to the rear wheels and the other motor, while the gasoline engine drives the front wheels.

When it comes to performance, the RAV4 Hybrid sings. It not only beats the original RAV4 in efficiency but is as competent and comfortable, if not more so. Zip around town with the electric motor's instant power response, the RAV4 Hybrid is a joy to drive around town. The EPA estimates are 41 mpg in the city, 38 mpg on the highway, and 40 mpg combined, all of which better the regular RAV4 mpg estimates.

Inside the cabin of the RAV4 Hybrid, practicality rules. You'll have plenty of storage options for your goods, with cubbies and bins for small items and an ample trunk with 37.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats and 69.8 cubic feet with the seats folded down. Dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, and a height-adjustable false floor in the cargo area are standard features in the base level, with added luxuries in the other trims.

LE and XLE trims have an 8.0-inch infotainment touchscreen and the XSE and Limited models boast a 10.5-inch screen. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto integration and a Wi-Fi hotspot are standard.

Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 is standard for 2023. It includes pre-collision assist with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control with steering assist, lane departure alert, automatic high beams, road sign assist, blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, and front and rear parking assist with automatic braking. Additional available features include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert with automatic braking, and a 360-degree camera system.
