1. Strawberry Picking and Farm Fun at Hickory Ridge Farm

Strawberries are the true taste of spring, and you'll be able to pick your own at Hickory Ridge Farm until June. And the Farm Fun events, with pony, barrel train, and hay rides, mean that it's the perfect place to make some memories with the kids as well. Come along to 2928 South Battlefield Boulevard to experience the play areas, dig in the sand piles, and meet the farm animals. The strawberry fields are open from 9am every day, and there are picnic tables and a coffee truck as well. It's a great excuse to load a hamper into the spacious trunk of your Toyota Sequoia and head out for a sweet day of strawberry-flavored springtime fun!

2. Guided Nature Hike at Battlefield Park

If the advent of spring inspires you to walk in the wild, this event offers the opportunity to get back to nature. Held in Battlefield Park at 1775 Historic Way on May 27 at 9am, it gives you the chance to benefit from the wisdom of one of the park's naturalists while investigating this beautiful part of the world. The event is free and suitable for all ages, but you must register beforehand from May 1. Or if you're more interested in military history, there's a battlefield walk on June 3 that allows you to follow in the footsteps of soldiers in the Battle of Great Ridge and learn more about the Revolutionary Wars. This rich area is full of opportunities to learn more, so look out for more chances to explore!

Chesapeake Farmers Market

Opening on June 3, the Farmers Market at City Park will be held on Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8am until noon, giving you the chance to browse locally grown farm produce and preserves. Pay a visit to 900 City Park Drive to enjoy spring's bounty with the freshest foods, and to support local businesses!

Tour of the Planets at Chesapeake Planetarium
