Check out some of our favorites that are listed below!

Mama Chan’s Chinese

Mama Chan’s is located at 3934 George Washington Highway in Portsmouth. It’s in the Afton Shopping Center and is a great spot for really delicious, home-cooked Chinese food. They’re open from 11 AM until 9 PM Monday through Wednesday and on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, they’re closed, and on Thursdays, they close a little early at 8 PM. Be aware that this is a cash-only restaurant, but we think it’s well worth it.
Their best dishes include their beef fried rice, the sausage egg foo young, and shrimp with broccoli. If you want the chop suey, we suggest trying the chicken. Their house special pork spareribs and pepper steak are also really excellent. They also serve steak and onion sandwiches, sweet and sour dishes, and yak mein of various kinds. Their lunch specials are a good deal and are available from 11 am until 2 pm. They come with fried rice and an egg roll as well as a can of soda.

Judy’s Sichuan Cuisine

Located at 1434 Sam’s Drive here in Chesapeake, this delightful place may very well be the best Chinese available in the area! They’re open from 11:30 AM every day except Wednesday when they are closed. They close at 9 PM Sunday through Thursday and at 9:30 PM on Friday and Saturday. Spice is the word of the day here, so if you’re a fan of spicy Chinese dishes, this is absolutely the place to go. There’s no buffet here: all the items on the menu are served family style.
Be sure to try their dan dan noodles, which are ranked among the best Asian dishes in all of the larger Virginia Beach area. The food here is authentic, and we recommend that you try the wood ear mushrooms with pickled pepper, the scallion pancake, the diced chicken with chili and pepper, and the fantastic fried mountain with cumin. These are all dishes you would find on the menu of restaurants in China today.
