Golf courses | Priority Toyota Chesapeake in Chesapeake, VAGreat players like great golf courses, so if you’re visiting the Chesapeake, VA area looking for somewhere to play, let us talk you through some of the best courses available, in our opinion!

1. Lamberts Point Golf Course

Starting off, we have a 9-hole beauty of a municipal course located on the banks of the Elizabeth River with dramatic views from all of the tees. This is a links-style setup that is great when we need a game but are short on time.
The terrain undulates significantly as you play and produces a severe level of challenge as you make your way along the tight, par 34 course’s maximum of 2,789-yards. Accuracy is rewarded, and control is the key if you’re hoping for a respectable round.

2. Elizabeth Manor Country Club

This impressive country club began its life in 1948 with an 18-hole course designed by Dick Wilson. The par 70 championship setup was restored in 2020 by Ben Crenshaw, the World Golf Hall of Fame member.
Impressive practice facilities for improving your short game and driving are available to members, and the general facilities here are exactly as you would expect for such a prestigious club.

3. Cypress Point Country Club

Next, we’d like to suggest this publicly accessible country club course with a beautiful location that feels far from life’s hustle and bustle. The 18-hole, par 72 layout is sufficiently challenging, and the well-tended Bermuda grass fairways and Bentgrass greens are defended by several cunningly located sand traps and water features.
The practice facility is particularly popular here with local golfers, and you’ll find a spacious driving range along with chipping and putting areas if you need to work on your form. After your round, the Cypress Bar & Grill is an excellent stop for a meal while you discuss how well, or not, you played.

4. Ocean View Municipal Golf Course

This 18-hole course offers refreshing sea air as you play and understandably has earned a reputation as one of the most attractive setups around. You’ll find a challenging game across its compact 5802 yards where all-out power isn’t needed.
The course is well maintained, and the club is known to be friendly and welcoming whether you’re a long-term visitor or a new face. We enjoy a walking game here for the exercise, but carts are available if you want them.

5. Kempsville Greens Golf Course

Finally, we have an 18-hole, par 70 municipal course that has been open since 1954. This is another relatively compact course and runs at a maximum of 5,843-yards. Many locals have received instruction here over the years, and the on-staff pro is known for its excellent teaching style.
A number of tricky sand traps and water hazards stand between the tee and the Bermuda grass fairways and the quick Bentgrass greens, so make sure you’re feeling sharp before setting out.

The next time you’re visiting our lovely area and have the urge to play a round or two, check out one of these gorgeous greens and enjoy some fresh air while refining your game!
