2020 Toyota 4Runner | Priority Toyota Chesapeake in Chesapeake, VAFor more than 30 years the Toyota 4Runner has been at the forefront of the SUV market for its off-road capability, superb towing capacity, and passenger-carrying ability. For 2020, the 4Runner has more driver assistance features and a new multimedia system. Here are six of the features that should put it at the top of your list.

Multiple Trim Levels

The 4Runner is offered in eight trim levels — SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, Venture Special Edition, Limited, Nightshade Edition, and TRD Pro — which, along with a variety of options, enables you to get the exact features you want! Each trim level features unique styling details that set it apart from the others.

Exterior Design

With its tall stance, passengers get a superior view from the 4Runner, and its unique front-end styling and boxy profile give it a dominant presence on the road. Standard equipment includes protective skid plates, 17-inch alloy wheels, integrated fog lights, heated power mirrors, rear privacy glass, and a rear spoiler.

Venture trim adds black accents and a special roof rack. The TRD Pro features unique badging, skid plates, and grille, LED fog lamps, front and rear mudguards, and all-terrain tires on matte black wheels. Limited and Nightshade models have roof rails, door handles with touch sensors, 20-inch wheels, and mirrors with turn signals.

Utility

The 4Runner is designed for your on- and off-road adventures. With the optional third row, you can carry up to seven people. Behind the second row in two-row models, you have 47.2 cubic feet of space for gear, which increases to 89.7 cubic feet when the second row is folded flat.

The available sliding cargo deck provides easier access for loading, while grabbing your gear is simple through the power-sliding liftgate window. To charge and power up your toys and equipment, there are four 12-volt power outlets and a 120-volt outlet.

Power and Performance

Powering the 4Runner is a 4.0-liter engine that delivers 270 horsepower and 278 pound-feet of torque. It’s mated to a five-speed automatic transmission. On SR5, SR5 Premium, Limited, and Nightshade models you can choose rear-wheel or four-wheel drive. Other trims feature standard all-wheel drive, and the crawl control and multi-terrain select enable you to go just about anywhere. You get a towing capacity of up to 5,000 pounds.

Multimedia System

The multimedia system now offers Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and Amazon Alexa compatibility. You’ll also find an 8-inch touch screen, two USB ports, voice command, Bluetooth, and an eight-speaker sound system. Premium versions offer HD radio and navigation, and Limited models add a 15-speaker JBL audio system.

Driver Assistance Features

Toyota Safety Sense is standard and includes dynamic radar cruise control, a pre-collision system, pedestrian detection, lane departure alert, trailer sway alert, automatic high beams, and a rear camera with projected path. Also standard is electronic vehicle stability control, traction control, assisted ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and smart stop technology. The Limited trim and up adds front and rear parking assistance.
