If you don’t know what this world-class museum has to offer, here’s a quick guide to what you can expect during your visit.

Exhibits

When you visit the Virginia Air & Space Science Center, you’ll get the chance to explore a wide array of interesting exhibits that walk you through the world of space and air travel. See real fighter pilots, replicas of early planes, and helicopters in the aircraft section. The spacecraft section gives you the opportunity to see an Apollo 12 command module, a Mars rover, rockets, the Viking lander, and more. Other exhibits include the Solarium, the Adventures in Flight hangar, and the interactive Exploration Station exhibit that kids will love.

Extra Attractions

This museum has more to explore than just its exhibits. Stop by the on-site IMAX theater to watch a short documentary. The IMAX theater has the largest screen in all of Hampton Roads and shows a revolving selection of movies. If you need to fuel up during your visit to the Virginia Air & Space Center, stop by the Cosmic Cafe to grab a bite to eat or get snacks for a movie at the theater.

Lifelong Learner Experiences

If you’re interested in furthering your education in science and technology, be sure to attend the Sigma Series lectures that this museum hosts. These lectures cover a variety of topics and are held on the first Tuesday of every month.

If you want to instill a love of STEM principles in your children, sign them up for one of the hands-on learning programs at the museum or a summer camp. During these educational visits, your children will learn how the world around them works through exciting demonstrations and activities.

Admission and Hours

General admission to the Virginia Air & Space Center is $20 for adults, $16.50 for children 3-18, and $18 for seniors. Active military and NASA employees can get in for $17. These ticket prices include an IMAX movie. If you want to purchase tickets for only the IMAX theater, you can get them for $9.25 per adult and $7.25 for children.

The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday and from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday. The museum is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. You’ll find the Virginia Air & Space Center at 600 Settlers Landing Road in Hampton, Virginia.
