Virginia Air & Space Science Center

The Virginia Air & Space Science Center, also known as the NASA Langley Visitor Center, is a fascinating date spot for couples who enjoy learning more about space and what lies beyond our massive planet. Hampton is the birthplace of the space program in America, so space history is plentiful in the area. You can explore more than 30 types of historic aircraft and enjoy interactive aviation-focused exhibits that span a century of flight history.

Other interesting things to see include the hands-on space exploration gallery and various space artifacts. Visitors can also get a glimpse of the Orion PA-1 test vehicle and the Apollo 12 Command Module, both of which are permanently housed in the museum space.

Fort Monroe National Monument

If your idea of a fun date involves lacing up your hiking boots and exploring the world around you, head to Fort Monroe National Monument. This location is a decommissioned military installation at Old Point Comfort, which is on the southern tip of the Virginia Peninsula. It sits on 565 acres of land and includes miles of hiking and biking trails and water areas for swimming, boating, and kayaking. You can even bring your beach chairs and sunbathe during the summer, soaking up the sunshine with your special someone.

The fort also boasts campgrounds, tours of the land, and special events and programs, including a summer concert series in Continental Park. If you visit during the fall, check out the ghost walks to get in a spooky mood!

YamaChen’s Sushi House

YamaChen’s Sushi House is a popular eatery in Hampton, and it’s a cozy spot to enjoy a romantic evening with your date. It’s open Tuesday through Sunday for lunch and dinner. Start your meal with a house salad topped with ginger dressing or a kani salad, a house specialty prepared with marinated crabmeat. A few of the favorite entrees include the crazy volcano roll, which includes spicy crab, tuna, and salmon, and the spicy white tuna roll, featuring spicy white tuna, masago, and avocado.

If you’re feeling extra hungry, check out the sashimi and sushi dinner options served with 10 to 20 pieces. Or, if you’re not a fan of traditional sushi, you can find vegetarian sushi alongside teriyaki and noodle dishes. The chicken and pork ramen dressed up with crabmeat, egg, veggies, chicken or pork, and seaweed is worth a try, especially if you enjoy the traditional version of this noodle soup.

Plan a fun date night for you and your sweetheart to reconnect and enjoy one another’s company! These spots in and around Hampton provide opportunities to learn more about the history of the area and enjoy all the city has to offer – start making your plans today!
