Virginia Beach Virginia has its own version of Daytona Beach. It's our own spring break destination, and it's called Virginia Beach! With over 25 miles of pristine sandy shoreline, tons of great hotel options, award-winning restaurants, and several miles of boardwalk, it's a perfect spot for kids of all ages. If you are looking for adult activities, there are also a plethora of fun nightclubs and bars in the area. more Tangier Island There's something about island life that just feels special, and Tangier Island is no exception. The quieter, simpler lifestyle causes you to instantly relax. Tangier Island is stunningly beautiful and located close by in the Chesapeake Bay. It has a little something for everyone, from fishing to golfing, birdwatching, or canoeing. Surround yourself with nature, and then when you're ready, head inside to one of the many fine restaurants for some of the most delicious seafood in the country. Did somebody say clam chowder? Eastern Shore The Eastern Shore is situated on the far side of Chesapeake Bay. You'll feel like you left the state, but without all the hassle and wear and tear on your vehicle. It's the perfect place for those with an active lifestyle to enjoy a variety of sports, such as kiteboarding, or paddle boarding. If you are into outer space or science, you'll love the NASA Wallops Flight Facility Visitor Center. Also, keep your eyes peeled for some wild ponies that are known to roam freely in the area. Giles County Virginia's Mountain Playground is undisputedly Giles County. It's an outdoorsman's paradise full of natural beauty. Hiking, biking, fishing, and camping are some of the favorite activities in the area. Slip on your hiking boots and explore the world-famous Appalachian Trail, or its lesser-known sister, the Cascades National Recreational Trail, located in Pembroke. Sit beside a spectacular 69-foot waterfall and ponder the meaning of life. Loudoun County If you're a wine lover, head up to northern Virginia. With more wineries than any other state in the nation, it a perfect place to relax and sip on a fine Syrah. Discover all the fantastic wineries on the Loudoun County Wine Trail, surrounded by picturesque scenery that will take your breath away. The area is loaded with charming B&Bs too, so chill out and stay a while. Spring break is a great opportunity to unwind and pamper yourself. Spring is a time for renewal. We let go of the cold, dark winter and prepare ourselves for outdoor adventures. Why not take the opportunity to show your car your gratitude for all its hard work during those brutal winter months? A spring checkup can help you discover any winter damage and prevent any new problems. Of course, if anything is really acting up, such as indicator lights going off, or you see a serious leak, take it to your friendly auto mechanic for a computerized diagnosis. Inspect Your Tires It's not an exaggeration to say that your life depends on your tires. A blowout can cause serious injury, even death. So, it's imperative to check your tires often, and Spring is as good a time as any. Air pressure typically changes dramatically during a storm, and it also varies with the temperature outside. This impacts your tire pressure and causes it to go up or down. Take out your tire gauge and make sure the PSI is what is recommended on the print of the tire. Also, if you use studded tires for the winter, it obviously time to remove them and put on your regular tires. more Check Your Fluids Spring is a good time to check all of the fluids in your vehicle to make sure there are no leaks, that the gaskets are secure, and that they're filled to the recommended amount. This includes everything from your windshield wiper fluid, to the oil, coolant, and transmission fluid.  When was the last time you changed your oil? If you've driven 3,000 miles since then, it's probably time. Always follow your car manufacturers instructions. Examine Your Battery Your battery and spark plugs provide power to your vehicle, and they have to work extra hard in cold temperatures. Wintertime stress can weaken their performance, so it's a good idea to test your battery before it gives out altogether. A good rule-of-thumb is that if it's more than a couple of years old, it probably needs replacing. You know It will be cheaper than having to call a tow truck in the future. Clean Your Car Inside and Out We often spring clean our house, so why not our car? Spring is the perfect time to get it looking and smelling all wonderful again. If you feel like splurging, take it to get detailed. If not, you'll have to do it yourself. Start with a good wash and wax. Then thoroughly vacuum it inside and out. Lastly, toss out all the garbage and clean the cloth, leather, or vinyl seats, along with the dashboard and console. Before long, it'll be looking shiny and new again. Your car is a big investment. The Northwest River Park and Campgrounds' is a beautiful freshwater lake stocked with bass and catfish. You might also explore Lake Drummond. It's the state's second largest natural lake and a great place for Bowfin anglers to try their luck. The low pH levels of the lake is an ideal home for not only bowfin but also crappie and longnose gar. Golf If golf is your sport of choice, then you might never want to leave Chesapeake. With stunning landscapes and perfectly groomed courses, it's a golfer's paradise. Regardless of your skill level, it's a wonderful way to spend the day and enjoy nature. Chesapeake Golf Club is one of the favorite greens in the Tidewater region, nestled in the quiet scenery of gorgeous woodlands. The Club has over 18,000 feet of rolling fairways and feels like a day at a members-only country club, but with the fee schedule of a public course. Seasoned veterans of the game will want to tee-off at the immaculate Battlefield Golf Club. The popular course, designed by Bobby Holcomb, is a par 70, 18-hole experience that you won't soon forget. Now that we're in the thick of winter, it's important to make sure you have a vehicle that can withstand harsh temperatures and snow. If your current car's lackluster in this area, consider upgrading to the 2018 Toyota 4Runner. Having a baby is a wonderful blessing. However, your new child does bring certain stresses to your life, one of which is choosing a car seat to keep him or her safe. Six Trim Levels The 2018 Toyota 4Runner is available in six trims, starting at $34,410 for the base SR5 and escalating to $42,675 for the TRD Pro. This charity event will offer hors d'oeuvres to eat and an open champagne and wine bar for drinks. Men must wear a suit or tuxedo, ladies are asked to wear a cocktail dress or evening gown, and everyone needs to bring along a masquerade mask for a night of excitement. New Year's Eve Family Frolic Head about an hour and 45 minutes northwest to Richmond for the New Year's Eve Family Frolic at Lewis Ginter Botanical Garden. This family-friendly celebration includes a parade, live music, and more. You can have your picture taken with the Garden Keeper, participate in the annual tradition of rolling down the hill to the Cochrane Rose Garden, make a New Year's party hat, and write your wish for the coming year to add it to the wishing chain. If you're already in the garden after the sun goes down, you can also enjoy the Dominion Energy GardenFest of Lights from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. NYE Live! Norfolk NYE Live! Willie Nelson, "On the Road Again" No list of top songs for a road trip playlist is complete without "On the Road Again" by Willie Nelson. While you might think Nelson penned the tune about life on tour when he was in the back of his own tour bus, he actually wrote the song on an airsickness bag when an executive of the movie "Honeysuckle Rose" approached him on the airplane and asked him to compose the theme song.
