2021 Toyota Venza | Priority Toyota Chesapeake in Chesapeake, VAReemerging from the shadows, the 2021 Toyota Venza is a thing of beauty and an excellent foray into more luxuriously designed vehicles. Offered only with a hybrid powertrain, this mid-size crossover from Toyota fills the gap between the Toyota RAV4 and Highlander nicely. Read on for more details about this exciting addition to the Toyota lineup!

Making the Old New Again

Originally offered from 2009-2015, the quirky style of the crossover didn’t gain much popularity amongst buyers and was dropped from the market. Fast forward 6 years – Toyota has decided to revive the Venza nameplate and provide it as an option in the mid-size crossover market niche. Still fitting in nicely between the RAV4 and Highlander, size-wise, you may wonder why Toyota believes the 2021 Venza will fare better this go-around. Answer: Toyota has upped its game with this redesign and elevated the 2021 Venza to compete with other luxury vehicles.

New Features

In keeping with the semi-luxury theme, Toyota loaded up the Venza with plenty of standard features and a few truly novel new tricks.

Some of the high-end features on the new Venza include an optional 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 10-inch HUD (heads-up display), a memory power driver’s seat, and heated and ventilated front seats. The JBL stereo upgrade has a 1,200-watt amp: the most powerful ever offered in a Toyota. However, that’s not the most exciting feature in the Venza; that would be the new Star Gaze panoramic glass roof. This roof features “electro-chromatic” technology, which turns the glass from transparent to frosted, with the simple press of a button.

Given a more sophisticated look, the Venza is stunning – and that may not be the biggest headline about it! The 2021 model is offered exclusively as a hybrid, with a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated 4-cylinder working in consort with 3 electric motors producing 219hp and getting approximately 40mpg combined. Three drive modes – Normal, Eco, and Sport – are available. The new Venza will have “Electric On-Demand” AWD able to shift the power from a ratio of 100:0 front-to-back to 20:80 when on slippery surfaces.

The Venza shares the same TNGA-K (Toyota New Global Architecture K) platform as the RAV4 and Highlander. While its wheelbase matches that of the RAV4 (105.9”), in fact, it adds 5.9” of body length. The crossover provides 36 cu. ft. of cargo room behind the rear seats, which fold flat for added capacity; there’s also bonus storage space hidden under the floor, for items able to be stored around the spare tire.

Time to Talk Money

The new Toyota Venza looks outstanding, uses little fuel, and comes with exclusive features. So that leaves the big question – does this upscale crossover SUV come with an upscale price? Yes and no. The Venza starts at about $34,000, and for the top trim, Limited, the Venza runs approximately $42,000.

Quite simply: the 2021 Toyota Venza has the capability to easily dominate the midsize-crossover market. With other makers looking to improve their brand by going high-end, it seems Toyota – in the case of the Venza, at least – has plans to keep from being left behind.
