Toyota WheelToyota is one of the biggest automakers in the world today. The company boasts over 80 decades of existence and has collected numerous accolades for car safety, innovation, and the integrated use of technology in its vehicles over the years. It’s not surprising, then, that the latest Toyota concept cars are so impressive. Here’s a look at two of the newest innovations that Toyota has announced, the Concept i Walk and Concept i Ride vehicles.

Overview of Concept i

Toyota’s Concept i cars are made especially for people with low mobility. These futuristic looking vehicles boast AI agents that drivers navigate roads, provide direction, and monitor driving behavior so that a tailored driving experience can be customized.

Concept i Walk ‐ Personal Mobility Vehicles

In a bid to make this world as inclusive and disability‐friendly as possible, Toyota has designed and announced plans to release vehicles that enable those with limited mobility to enjoy as normal a life as possible. One of their latest innovations in this area is the Concept i Walk, a three‐wheeler that’s been specially designed for this group of people. The vehicle’s low‐access floor makes it easy for people with low mobility to get on and off. What also makes this vehicle user‐friendly is the integrated AI agent that monitors the road and warns the driver of any impending obstacles, thereby improving the driver’s driving experience.

Concept i Ride ‐ Wheelchair User‐Friendly Vehicle

Designed for those who use wheelchairs, the Concept i Ride is a two‐seater car that also happens to be electric. Thanks to the gull‐wing doors that open upwards (unlike traditional side opening car doors) wheelchair users are able to navigate their way into the vehicle without problems. The sliding electric i Ride’s seat guarantees an easy entry for both the driver and the user’s wheelchair. The i Ride also has enough space to fit in a folded wheelchair in the back.

Instead of a steering wheel, the i Ride has a joystick, along with an accelerator and brake pedals. The driver is not alone, however, as an AI agent is present to help navigate roads and provide useful information such as locations of wheelchair‐friendly establishments and parking spots.
